I regularly stream at Twitch.tv/JHartEllis — I mostly stream The Elder Scrolls Online with an emphasis on housing and trading, though I touch on about everything from achievements to PVE to PVP.
I started and maintain the spicyeconomics.com website, which I view as a valuable resource for housing artistry and decoration inspiration. I have organized 125+ community-wide contests which are listed here, and I received an ESO Community Spotlight for my Malacath Makeover contest. I also hold weekly Housing Hike tours to spotlight creative player housing in ESO. I maintain a huge gallery of screenshots from past tours and contests, which are also organized conveniently by home type.
I also update my Golden Moosletter monthly with gold-making tips. To also help players, I’ve compiled useful interactive tables on ESO items including Style Pages, Motifs, Fragments, and Luxury Furnishings.
I also maintain a YouTube channel to spotlight fun info and tours. My Twitter feed is full of examples of recent projects.
To have a focus on trading and positive social experiences, I formed the Spicy Economics and Spicy Life guilds on the PC/NA server of ESO. We regularly organize events and socialize at our shared Discord server at discord.gg/spicy
Further back, I graduated from Utah State University with excellent grades and degrees in Accounting, Economics, Marketing, and Business Administration.
I co-developed the popular StarCraft II Arcade game Empires of the Stormy Seas: Battleships, a naval-themed 4v4 lane-pusher emphasizing team play. This was originally made for a Blizzard Entertainment contest and further developed after. This was a complex project including designing systems for ships, weapons, shops, abilities, modifiers, and upgrades. Modifying the map, adding helpful dynamic tooltips, and adding fun elements were rewarding. The game received a near 5-star community rating and is still played to this day.
It’s forerunner, Empires of the Stormy Seas, which I also helped develop, featured different ships, abilities, and terrain and was published a year prior.
A proud recent moment was raising $5000 for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital to fight childhood cancer by hosting a 24-hour charity stream. This went way beyond original goals and expectations, and I was appreciative of the community support.
I am committed to positivity and self-improvement, and I always try to bring out the best in people.
