Golden Moosletter — Gold-Making Tips

Updated for May 2024! The goal here is to help you get to that next level of trading. I also focus on this sort of information often on my livestream at twitch.tv/jhartellis

This should help to keep you in the know of the best current in-game ESO markets.

Spot prices on PC/NA:

Tempering Alloy: 22,800g (182.4k for legendary upgrade) — down 15% Quarter-over-Quarter

Dreugh Wax: 42,300g (338.4k for legendary upgrade) — down 13%

Rosin: 3,500g (28k for legendary upgrade) — down 19%

Zircon Plating: 6,200g (24.8k for epic upgrade) — down 16%

Chromium Plating: 22,700g (181.6k for legendary upgrade) — down 17%

Kuta: 7,900g — down 11%

Decorative Wax: 670g — down 31%

Mundane Rune: 1300g — down 33%

Heartwood: 2000g — down 28%

The broad market has been extremely weak in the wake of a quarterly update that broke most trader addon functionality (that’s mostly fixed at this point) and generally lackluster events. Anniversary Jubilee rewards have flooded the market with supply, which is weighing on prices.

Big changes with Gold Road include shorter mail expiration timers and shorter guild trader listings. This will likely cause a more aggressively competitive environment while also pushing a lot of casual traders out of the market.

Another big change with Gold Road is the introduction of Colovian-style furnishings, which require super cheap Nickel as the style material. This should make this style relatively very easy to craft as opposed to Glass Eye of Mora based furnishings and the like from recent years. The main furniture crafting bottleneck will be basic mats like Heartwood and Mundane Runes.

As always, do your daily crafting writs to reliably generate valuable upgrade materials, sealed writs, and surveys. Level up your crafts to 50 and put Skill Points into Metalworking/Tailoring/Aspect/Engraver/Woodworking in order to have the highest chance of getting gold mats. Slot the Plentiful Harvest perk for surveys.

Writ Vouchers

Attunable stations: 480,000g (1920g/voucher or 1766g/voucher after 8% fees)

Research Scrolls: 6500g (2167g/voucher or 1993g/voucher after 8% fees)

The Writ Voucher market has weakened with the overall market. Gold Road doesn’t add any new Writ Voucher offerings.

Big stacks of consumables (like bundles of Attunables or Research Scrolls) are generally the most profitable and the most effective use of sales slots.

Vitamin RNG with purple furnishing plans can give above-market returns. Use TTC to identify temporary shortages of other Writ Voucher offerings (such as folios) to get great returns.

Filters using AGS, MM, and WritWorthy can be a great way to quickly sort out good sealed writs on the guild traders. Doing sealed writs efficiently with addons is an amazing way of gaining CP while also freeing up value from your craft bag from otherwise awkward materials.

Alliance Points

Dawn-Prism: 22,700g (1.14g per AP) (don’t buy these–this is just a baseline)

Random gear is almost always the best way to go, often getting a nearly 2:1 ratio. Vicious Death (from the Specialized Gear Vendor in Cropsford at 12k AP per box) is a GREAT pick. Deadly Strike boxes from Bruma are still quite popular.

Tel Var

Hakeijo: 78,000g (15.6g per TV) (don’t buy these–this is just a baseline).

Superb Imperial Reward boxes will give random piece of potentially good gear (and you’ll likely pick up bound Xivkyn polymorphs for yourself). Alternatively, buy specific sets from the Tel Var Equipment Lockbox Merchant–sets like Powerful Assault and Shield Breaker can have whopping yields, close to 25:1-30:1 on average. Alternatively, you can buy the Impenetrable armor pieces straight up from the other vendors.

Crafted/Overland Gear

Crafted sets that are selling well with highest volume listed first:

Order’s Wrath

Daedric Trickery

Wretched Vitality

Druid’s Braid

Hunding’s

Julianos

Heartland Conqueror

New Moon Acolyte

Clever Alchemist

Use Dolgubon’s Lazy Set Crafter to stay on top of listings as they sell. I always recommend making gear in rarer, sexier styles and with Kuta-level enchants–it can give a major edge over more basic listings, selling more quickly or at higher margins.

A few other sets of note:

Healer’s Habit (DSA)

Briarheart (Wrothgar)

Hexos’ Ward (Deadlands)

War Maiden (Vvardenfell)

Golding out in-demand best-traited weapons is an amazing way to boost sales and get extra value from upgrade mats. Consider changing the enchant too to make it grab-and-go ready.

Calendar

May 2024 calendar log-in rewards are very big, especially the Sword-Singer’s Redoubt home on Day 3. The 5 Scalecaller Crates on Day 4-8, 500 Seals of Endeavor on Day 10, Bruma Spotted Pig on Day 14, and 5 Xanmeer Crates from Days 16-20 round out the generous collectible rewards.

Gold Road coming up June 3 for PC is the main big thing. Should be Zeal of Zenithar and Whitestrake’s Mayhem in the coming months soon after.

Molag Kena mask is briefly farmable from May 6-13 from White-Gold Tower.

Selene’s mask will also be available May 13-20 from Selene’s Web.

Baron Zaudrus mask will also be available May 20-28 from The Cauldron. This will likely be farmed hard due to the desirability of the style.

Always best to get the shoulders from the blue RNG boxes from the respective Pledge stores for 1 Undaunted Key each.

Misc

A few houses worth buying just for the tradable furnishings:

-Kragenhome for 69,000g gives Dark Elf Bed of Coals worth ~200,000g.

-Autumn’s Gate for 60,000g gives Firelogs, Flaming worth ~225,000g.

-Cliffshade for 255,000g gives both Firelogs, Flaming and Firelogs, Charred worth ~400,000g total.

-Ald Velothi Harbor House for 322,000g gives a Shed, Well, Sillar Stone items, and more worth at least double.

Piecing together fragments into runeboxes can be a good way to add value. You can use my list here to search for missing pieces.

Make the most of your limited sales slots. Sell only great items, and stack them together whenever possible. Relist at least once a week for better visibility and the opportunity to adjust pricing.

Stay Spicy!
